Basic Safety Training - Basic Course is a basic course you must have in order to work offshore as oil workers, regardless of your position. Target GroupPersonnel working on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Please note that this course is held in English.

ObjectiveTo enable the delegates to protect their safety in an emergency situation and promote safe behaviour.
The participant should be motivated to promote a better and safer working environment. Emphasis is placed on preventive measures that can avoid injuries to people, the environment and equipment.
After completing the course, the participants should have basic knowledge and skills relating to:

  • HSE culture and correct safety behaviour.
  • Lifesaving first-aid.
  • Helicopter evacuation (HUET).

  • Prevention of work accidents.
  • Collective means of evacuation.

  • Use of relevant fire/rescue equipment.
  • Correct use of survival suit with emergency breathing system.

The course aims to create positive attitudes to the term HSE culture, as well as understanding for the social and physical working environments significance for life, health and values in work as well as recreational time.

Course ContentsThe course follows the training guidelines issued by Norwegian Oil and Gas for safety and emergency preparedness training.

PrerequisitesNone.
When you enrol in the course, you will receive a link to an e-learning module. This must be completed before you start the course. On the first day, a multiple choice test based on the e-learning will be completed.

ExaminationWritten exam. The participants have to actively take part in both theoretical and practical exercises.

The airport bus (Flybussen) or Bergen Light Rail (Bybanen) to Bergen Center (Byparken), approx. 45 min. Line 17 to Gravdalen, approx. 15 min. (last stop) and a short walk of approx. 5-10 min.
From Flesland approx. 20 min. ➤ Drive out on Kokstadflaten. Follow signs 580 and E39 Bergen (two roundabouts). Soon you will come to a roundabout: Take the first exit and keep left. You will see a roundabout until quite quickly: take the third exit in the direction of 556 Søreide and 555 Sotra. At the next roundabout: Second exit (follow straight ahead). Soon you will arrive at another roundabout: take the second exit (direction straight ahead). Next roundabout: Second exit (direction straight ahead) to 555 Sotra and E39 Bergen (see signs before roundabout). Soon you will enter the Button Tunnel (keep right). Follow signs to Nygård and out on the motorway until you reach an exit to Nygård / Gravdalen. At the next roundabout, take the second exit over the bridge and into a new roundabout. Keep right and exit at the first exit. Follow Rv582 Lyderhornsveien (past Rema 1000), and take the second driveway on the left. Drive straight ahead until you see the Plantation on the left. Then you will see a sign for the center in front of you. Follow signs and drive to the end of the road. Drive from the center towards Sotra and take the first exit after the Damsgård Tunnel. Follow the road approx. 200m and turn left at the gas station. Then follow the road until you have Gravdal Plantation on the left and continue on to the end.
In summary: nine roundabouts, one longer tunnel.
Good parking.
All days from 08:30 to 15:30, except Monday which starts at 08:45.
Lunch vary from day to day, usually between 11am and noon.
Course fee and infection control fee (NOK 135 / day) must be paid before the start of the course. Remember to mark payment with the order reference stated on the course confirmation that arrives the next working day. Business customers can choose to receive an invoice.
